Compassion, Inclusion, and Community

“At the table, I found a community that embraces me for who I am, where love and acceptance are paramount. Here, everyone is valued, and together we create a space where all can belong and be heard.”

Jenni Leslie, originally from southern Ontario, now calls Ottawa home, where she has served her church for 16 years. Jenni's journey began with a profound personal loss when she lost a dear friend in a tragic car accident, leading Jenni to question her faith and ultimately find her calling in ministry.

Jenni's ministry is rooted in being present with people during their times of grief and life transitions. She emphasizes that a compassionate, loving, and relational God is always with us, offering connection and support.

As a queer woman, Jenni's journey has not been without challenges. She faced
resistance and exclusion at the beginning of her ministry, but eventually found unwavering support. This inclusivity allowed her to embrace her identity fully and serve authentically. Jenni’s story highlights the importance of creating a space where everyone can be their true selves and feel accepted.

She values the church’s efforts to engage in difficult conversations and address complex issues, from human sexuality to same-gender marriage. Her journey reflects bold reflection and active collaboration, inspiring others to embrace their identities and work towards a more inclusive and compassionate community.
