Recognizing the varied risk management levels among congregations, UCC Protect United is taking the initiative to provide a fundamental and consistent first step for all churches. This is crucial given that many churches lack comprehensive risk management measures, such as multi-factor authentication, VPN, or antivirus protection and cyber awareness training.
What is the cyber breach response service?
Congregations now have access to the Hackbusters Emergency Incident Response Team—available 24/7 in case of a cyber incident—to help them through the response and recovery. Just call or email us:
- This service is exclusively available to pastoral charges of The United Church of Canada. With the assistance of a dedicated Hackbusters™ team, members can access immediate guidance and support when their computers fall victim to various types of cyberattacks, including ransomware encryption.
- The Hackbusters™ team, operating around the clock, will deliver a comprehensive roadmap for understanding the incident and restoring the member’s network.
- Most situations can be resolved within an hour. However, in rare instances requiring deeper support beyond the scope of our breach response product, the team will refer the congregation to a third-party service provider.
