There are many ways for you as a church community to practice reconciliation and work for Indigenous justice.
Integrate Indigenous justice themes in your worship and community lives.
- Read Acknowledging the Territory in Worship (see Downloads below) as part of your church identity
- In times of violence or racist incidents, prayer can be a positive action of support for healing and reconciliation: see prayers on the Indigenous worship theme page.
- Worship materials
- Healing Fund
- Justice and Reconciliation Fund
Learn more about residential schools near you. These sites allow you to explore the history of residential schools through documents and pictures relating to residential schools.
Take action. The United Church has a long history of working on issues of Indigenous Justice. We do this through our own Living Into Right Relations network, in partnership with KAIROS: Canadian Ecumenical Justice Initiatives and through national initiatives such as the ongoing call for an inquiry into murdered and missing Indigenous women and girls.
